According to Football Insider (h/t Metro), former Tottenham star and England international Paul Robinson believes there is no better youth player in the world than Harvey Elliott.
The 17-year-old has endured a promising debut season on Merseyside since making the move from Fulham last summer. In spite of his appearances being limited predominantly to cup competitions, the youngster has set pulses racing with his performances.
Robinson lavished praise on the youngster and complimented him for making himself at home so early at Anfield.
When quizzed if he is aware of there being a better young talent than Elliott, he responded in the negative.
“If there is I have not seen them.”
He expects the 17-year-old to have a long career. It is not easy making a mark in a side that had just won the Champions League but Elliott has done just that. His performances have seen the club offer him a new contract, a testament to the impact he has had so far.
Elliott was immediately thrust into the Liverpool Under-23 side in spite of him being just 16. He made his senior debut in the Carabao Cup win at MK Dons in September. The youngest player to make a senior appearance for Liverpool
, he is already in the history books. He recently expressed his desire to follow in the footsteps of club legend Steven Gerrard. Lofty ambitions but given his courage and the no-nonsense attitude, it’s not surprising.
Elliott was a part of a young Liverpool side that defeated Arsenal in the Carabao Cup quarter-final and Everton in the third round of the FA Cup.
He was a part of the Liverpool squad that won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup last year. If he keeps it up, he will prove Robinson to be a soothsayer.
