While there has been discussion of Liverpool potentially taking their foot off the gas once they wrap up the Premier League title, there is one player that certainly won’t be easing up in the closing weeks. That is , who is still in the hunt for his third Premier League Golden Boot in as many seasons since he joined the club from Roma in the summer of 2017.

Salah currently sits on 16 goals in the Premier League, leaving him three behind leader Jamie Vardy’s tally of 19 goals with nine games left to play. It’s going to be an uphill battle for him to catch Vardy, but if anybody can do it then it’s Liverpool’s Egyptian King, who has a mightily impressive 91 goals in 144 appearances for the club already.

Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero joins Salah on 16 goals for the season so far, while Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – who shared the Golden Boot with Salah and Sadio Mane last season – is second in the table with 17 goals. Mane himself is on 14 for the season, as is Marcus Rashford, while former Liverpool striker Danny Ings has bagged 15 times for Southampton in a hugely impressive individual campaign for him.

As things stand, Salah is priced at 6/1 to win the , making him the fourth-favourite to win the Golden Boot with nine games left to play amongst the other contenders. Leicester’s Vardy is unsurprisingly the odds-on favourite at this moment in time, with his best price of 15/8 currently available to back.

Both Aubameyang (7/2) and Aguero (5/1) are also ahead of Salah in the betting market, with a potential rotation policy at Anfield a potential reason for the slightly lower price of the Liverpool forward. They could have the title sewn up almost immediately after the restart, which then poses the question of both Liverpool’s intensity and Jurgen Klopp’s team selection.

The aforementioned quartet are the overwhelming favourites to win the Golden Boot with the bookies, with other contenders Rashford (14/1), Mane (16/1), Harry Kane (16/1), Ings (20/1) and Tammy Abraham (25/1) all rank outsiders. When placing your bets on the Golden Boot, be sure to check out before doing so. They will give you all the information you need about the most recognised online bookmakers and allow you to pick which ones to use under their additional guidance.

The Egyptian international was in great form prior to the pause of the season, scoring five goals in his last six games in the Premier League and will be well aware of the fact that he is still in the hunt for this award. Should he come out as the leading scorer for a third straight year, he would be just the second player in Premier League history to win the Golden Boot three seasons on the trot.

The only other player to do so is the Premier League’s all-time record goalscorer Alan Shearer, who did so between 1995 to 1997. Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is the only other player with at least three Golden Boots to his name, with the Frenchman having won four Golden Boots during his time with the north London club.
