Liverpool have made no approach for Thiago Alcantara

As reported by Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol, a source close to Liverpool has claimed that the club has made no approach to sign Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara, contrary to claims in the German media.

Reports in German outlet Bild (h/t Mirror) claimed on Thursday that Liverpool had made official contact and opened talks with Bayern Munich for the signing of the 29-year-old Spanish international.

However, a source close to the club has told Sky Sports that there is no truth to those claims, dismissing it as total nonsense.

“Total nonsense. Just because the media says something is going to happen, doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.”

Thiago has been with Bayern Munich since 2013, having joined them from La Liga giants Barcelona. During his time in Germany, the Spaniard has grown into one of the best midfielders in the game.

However, the 29-year-old’s contract is set to expire in less than a year. And, he has expressed no desire to pen a new deal with the German champions. This has led to intense speculations over his future, with Liverpool reported to be one of the clubs interested in signing him. (h/t Metro)

However, as per Sky Sports, there is not much interest from the club’s side, even though he could be available for as little as €30m.

Thiago, without a doubt, is a world class player. However, he might not be the most ideal fit in Jurgen Klopp’s style and philosophy. Plus, we have plenty of options in our midfield department as it is. So, may be we would be better off passing on the Spaniard.
