Barcelona presidential hopeful claims talks held with Jurgen Klopp

Speaking to Diario Sport, as relayed by the Echo, Barcelona presidential candidate Jordi Farre says he has held talks with the representatives of Jurgen Klopp about taking over as manager at Camp Nou in the future.

Klopp took over at Anfield in October 2015 and has taken the team to great heights over the past five years. Having led us to the Champions League triumph in 2017/18, the German tactician masterminded our first ever Premier League title in the recently concluded campaign.

Given the success that he has brought in at Anfield, it is only natural for outsiders to cast admiring glances. And it seems like Barcelona, who were one of the victims of the Klopp revolution in the Champions League last season, are looking at the former Borussia Dortmund manager.

The Catalans are in a state of distress after their humiliating exit from the Champions League this season at the hands of Bayern Munich. Quique Setien was sacked this week, with former Everton boss Ronald Koeman taking over the reins.

However, he may not last more than a year at Camp Nou, if Jordi Farre wins the presidential elections that are to be held next year. The 44-year-old seemingly has big plans for the Catalans should he emerge triumphant in the elections, with Klopp being a part of is plans. (h/t Echo)

Despite the claims, it is extremely unlikely that Klopp will leave Anfield any time soon. The 53-year-old penned a new long-term contract with the club, extending his stay till the summer of 2024.
