Aston Villa interested in Marko Grujic

According to a report from Goal (h/t Mirror), Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has emerged as a transfer target for Premier League side Aston Villa in the ongoing transfer window.

Grujic signed for Liverpool from Red Star Belgrade in January 2016. He was immediately loaned back to the Serbian outfit till the end of the 2015/16 season. However, having failed to make an impact at Anfield, he was then sent out on loan to Cardiff City in January 2018.

This was followed by back-to-back loan spells at Hertha in the last two seasons. Back at Liverpool after the 2019/20 campaign, Grujic has joined his Liverpool teammates in the club’s pre-season training camp in Austria. It is said that manager Jurgen Klopp will take a call on his future after assessing him over the course of the pre-season camp.

It is claimed that Hertha Berlin remain interested in signing the 24-year-old on a permanent transfer. However, as per the aforementioned report

, they are not alone in the race to land the Serbian, with Aston Villa also keen.

Apart from Aston Villa, fellow PL club Crystal Palace have showed an interest in signing the midfielder, while Bundesliga outfits Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach are also keeping an eye on Grujic’s situation. (h/t Mirror)

Since joining Liverpool four years ago, Grujic has made just 14 first-team appearances

. With Jurgen Klopp loaded with options in the centre of the park, it is hard to see the Serbian carve out a place in the side.

And with the club also eyeing a move for Thiago Alcantara, Grujic’s prospects look even bleaker. So, it would be best for the club to cash in on him this summer.
