Cardiff City sign Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo on loan
A report on the Liverpool official website has confirmed that, that English attacker Sheyi Ojo has joined EFL Championship outfit Cardiff City on a season-long loan deal.
Ojo joined Liverpool from lower league side MK Dons in 2011 and made his debut in an FA Cup tie against Exeter City in January 2016. Since then, he has made 13 appearances for the first-team, scoring one goal and setting up four more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The 23-year-old hasn’t featured in a professional match for us since last appearing in January 2017. Despite this lack of attention from his parent club, the Bluebirds and Nottingham Forest were both keen on the forward’s services. (h/t Nottingham Post)
Ojo has represented the England national team at various youth levels, but is yet to make an appearance for the senior side. Despite having been a member of the club for the longest time now, a majority of his career has been spent on loan.
The youngster has had loan stints at the likes of Wolves, Fulham and Ligue 1 outfit Reims. His most recent loan deal away from Merseyside saw him join up with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side down in Scotland.
With the switch to Cardiff City now confirmed, Ojo’s next transfer destination is South Wales. Cardiff have already completed the acquisitions of Kieffer Moore and Jordi Osei-Tutu, and Ojo has joined them ahead of what could be a key season for the Bluebirds in the Championship.

Liverpool fans will surely be frustrated about the lack of activity displayed during the current transfer window. The budget acquisition of Greek full-back Kostas Tsimikas remains their only signing so far. If that transfer is an indicator of how Liverpool aim to do business, then the upcoming campaign could prove to be a challenging one.
Names like Thiago Alcantara have been getting thrown around Anfield for a while now. But there is yet to be any sort of official announcement from the club on the matter.
