According to David Anderson of the Mirror, Premier League champions Liverpool are holding out for a transfer fee of £20m for academy product Harry Wilson, amid heavy interest.
The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the most talented youngsters to have come through our academy in recent years. However, given the attacking riches at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal, he has been sent out on loan season after season.
Wilson, so far, has had loan stints away at Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County and Bournemouth. He has only made just one first-team appearance for his parent club.
Back after a fairly impressive campaign on loan with the relegated Bournemouth side, Wilson is keen on regular first-team football. However, that is something that is not guaranteed at Anfield currently. (h/t Mirror)
Liverpool will consider letting go of the academy ace this summer. However, the club will only discuss offers of a permanent transfer. (h/t Liverpool Echo
)And as per David Anderson, there is interest from newly-promoted Premier League side Leeds United, who are long-term admirers of the winger. At the same time, Aston Villa are also keen and are currently leading the chase for Wilson.
However, Liverpool are holding firm on their stance that the club will only sell if his valuation £20m is met. None of the offers that the Reds have received so far are anywhere near the valuation. (h/t David Anderson)
All the clubs around us have significantly strengthened their squads. So, we cannot afford to remain stagnant and go into the coming campaign with almost the same squad as last season.
So, the earlier we are able to offload some players, the earlier we will be able to make a move for our targets. Hopefully, the Wilson situation reaches a resolution as soon as possible.
