Liverpool target Ozan Kabak with Schalke willing to sell at the right price
According to Bundesliga journalist Chris Williams (h/t Express) Liverpool are interested in the potential signing of Schalke’s Turkish centre-half Ozan Kabak and have made contact with the German club. It has been claimed that Jurgen Klopp is keen on acquiring the big centre-half, as he looks to bolster the weakened back-line.
The recent signing of Diogo Jota saw young promising defender Ki-Jana Hoever go the other way, which means that Liverpool are now left with just Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joël Matip as the only options to choose from.
Klopp is eyeing more signings in this transfer window. With back-to-back Premier League titles seemingly the target, this attitude from Liverpool doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. Kabak is said to be on the manager’s list, after the 4-3 win against Leeds United on opening day highlighted our defensive fragility. (h/t Express)

Having sold Dejan Lovren to Zenit earlier in the summer as well, a new defensive acquisition is certainly a requirement.
And the Reds’ hopes of signing the Turkish centre-half have reportedly been given a boost. While Schalke are maintaining the official line that the 20-year-old is not for sale, the German outfit will sell for the right price. It is further claimed that Schalke might accept an offer of around €25m. (h/t Express)
Kabak is an extremely highly-rated central defender, who would offer Klopp an added option to choose from at the back. Still only 20-years-old, working under a manager like Klopp, and alongside Virgil Van Dijk in defence, could be instrumental towards the youngster’s development.
Despite being contracted to the Bundesliga club until the summer of 2024, a big enough offer from Liverpool would be enough to tip the scales in the club’s favour. (h/t Express)

The 20-year-old is a product of the Galatasaray youth system, which is where he made his way up the ranks. After spending just over six months at Stuttgart, Schalke acquired him in the summer of 2019.
One season in the Bundesliga is all it’s taken for him to be noticed by Liverpool. Capable of playing in holding midfield if required, the youngster could serve a variety of purposes in the future. With a couple of caps for Turkey under his belt as well, it’s safe to say that this would be a top signing for the Premier League champions.
