Twitter reacts as Liverpool discover Champions League group stage fate
Liverpool have been handed a tricky but easy group in the 2020/21 Champions League. Drawn into Group D, the Reds will face Ajax Amsterdam, Atalanta, and FC Midtjylland.
The Reds have faced Ajax just twice in their history. Both clashes came in the European Cup in 1966. It proved to be a lesson in humility as the Dutchmen won 7-3 on aggregate.
The roles may be reversed this time around with the Reds amongst the best teams in the competition. Ajax. meanwhile, will be comparatively weaker having lost the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Donny van de Beek and Sergino Dest.

Atalanta were one of the surprise packages of last season’s competition. A team with a free-flowing style, the Italians should prove to be the most challenging team of the lot. If anything the games will be at the least very entertaining.
The game against FC Midtjylland will be an interesting one for Liverpool’s throw-in coach Thomas Gronnemark. The Dane also works with the Danish champions in the secret arts of one of football’s overlooked traits.
All said and done, it is a favourable draw and Liverpool will be expected to make it through the group stages. We take a look at how fans reacted to the draw below.

Wouldn’t say that’s far off the perfect draw. Looks set to produce some entertaining, attack-minded games. From the off, we certainly look to be the favourites to progress at the top of the group.

Good group with Ajax and Atalanta who will both keep us focused. Midtjylland good one as could possibly use a few backup options if needed.
Let’s go!

I love the fact that they are all attacking sides. Not some Napoli kind of football. We’re actually going to statpad against them. Dfkm 😭
