According to a report from the Mirror, Premier League champions Liverpool are mulling over the possibility of loaning out academy graduate Harry Wilson once again, with no takers for him on a permanent transfer.
The 23-year-old Wilson has been regarded as one of the most talented youngsters to have come through our academy. However, given the attacking riches at the club, he has been constantly farmed out on loan season after season.
Wilson, till date, has had temporary stints away at Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County and Bournemouth. He has made just two senior appearances for the Reds, one of which came in the Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal last week.
Wilson is keen on regular first-team football, something that is not guaranteed at Anfield currently. It was claimed that the club would be open to letting him leave, but only on permanent transfers. (h/t Mirror
)However, there haven’t been many offers forthcoming for the Welshman. Burnley had registered an interest in the winger but were unwilling to meet Liverpool’s asking price of £15m. And Sean Dyche’s men will not return to the negotiating table on the deadline day, leaving Wilson in a bit of a limbo. (h/t Mirror)
And, as a result, Liverpool are now considering whether to loan the 23-year-old out for another term.
Wilson is unlikely to be the only player leaving Anfield on deadline day. Midfielder Marko Grujic is also closing in on a return to Bundesliga with Werder Bremen interested.
Wilson still has three years left on his current contract with Liverpool. It remains to be seen what the immediate future holds for the winger.
