Perr Schuurs is on the radar of Liverpool and the Reds face competition for the Dutch star
Liverpool seem set to bolster their interest in Ajax defender Perr Schuurs, according to Calciomercato (h/t Express).
The 20-year-old Dutch centre-back is now a regular for the Dutch giants and has played 11 times for them this season.
Schuurs had a trial with us in 2017 and the Mirror (h/t Express) confirmed that he was being monitored fairly recently.
Liverpool are in a bit of a conundrum given the spate of injuries to their players this season. We lost Virgil van Dijk to a long-term injury at Everton and now Joe Gomez seems to have joined the Dutch centre-back on the treatment table.
Gomez was training with England ahead of the international fixtures but Gareth Southgate did not have a good update on the youngster.
Liverpool are yet to know the extent of the damage and hopefully, Gomez is not out for long. Schuurs is being tracked by AC Milan and Inter Milan (h/t Express) and it is to be seen what our next step is.
Options for Liverpool at the back?
Liverpool have several targets for the winter window, with Dayot Upamecano and Ozan Kabak also linked (h/t Express).
Jurgen Klopp has had to mix up the centre-back partnership this season with Fabinho, Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams all getting game time.
The boss also claimed that others could step into the heart of the defence as well. James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Andy Robertson are the stars that the gaffer named.
Williams and Phillips have impressed in their limited outings. However, it will be interesting to see if Klopp keeps faith in the youngsters. Milner and Henderson have played as right-backs during Klopp’s time here. The boss has some big decisions to take over the next few months.

However, Liverpool still need at least one senior centre-back in the winter window. Joel Matip has had his injury problems over the years and expecting him to remain fit for the rest of the campaign is too much.
Schuurs could be a good young target and Liverpool’s January moves will be an interesting watch.
