Liverpool join United and Juventus in the race to sign Isak Bergmann Johannesson

According to a report by the Mirror (h/t Daily Star), Liverpool are keeping track of Icelandic wonderkid Isak Bergmann Johannesson. Manchester United have been linked with the player, but may lose out due to Juventus and Liverpool’s newfound interest in him.

The youngster was born in England and currently plays for Swedish first division team IFK Norrkoping, where he has already made 29 appearances.

Juventus are the most likely club to bid for him, but Liverpool are keeping a track of the player. Johannesson made his debut in the Allsvenskan at the age of just 16 and will cost around £10million with add-ons. (h/t Daily Star)

The midfielder made his debut for Iceland in their UEFA Nations League match last week. The versatile youngster prefers playing in central midfield but can also be deployed as a winger.

While Liverpool have no shortage of quality midfielders and wingers right now, a young player of Johannesson’s quality around that pricetag would make sense for any big club in the long-term.

Johannesson has previously expressed his desire to play for Manchester United, who he says are his dream club alongside Norrkoping, but there has been no formal interest from the Red Devils.

This opens up the possibility of the Reds cashing in on the hype. Liverpool have an array of talented youngsters and Johannesson would only strengthen the club’s youth team while also being a prospect for the senior team.
