Manchester City star Phil Foden insists Liverpool remain in PL title hunt

According to the Liverpool Echo, Manchester City star Phil Foden has claimed that Liverpool are still very much in the race for the Premier League title ahead of Sunday’s titanic clash.

Liverpool welcome Manchester City to Anfield on Sunday evening with the Reds seven points behind Pep Guardiola’s men who are at the top of the table.

Results haven’t been going in the favour of Jurgen Klopp’s men of late, with their most recent game ending in a 1-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield earlier this week. This has led to talks of our title defence already being over.

Foden, however, has dismissed such notions, insisting that Liverpool still remain contenders to win the Premier League title for the second season in a row.

“They [Liverpool] are such a great team and have great players. We know they can go on a run themselves. It’s going to be a great game. You see how strong Liverpool have been in recent years and I still see them as a danger. But we just have to focus on ourselves.”

Manchester City themselves made a poor start to the campaign but have made a strong recovery in recent weeks to jump at the top of the pile. And there is no saying that Klopp & co. can’t do the same as well.

Two wins in our last eight Premier League matches does not make for pretty reading. More so, if one takes into context that Liverpool have now lost the last league two games at Anfield against bottom-half sides Burnley and Brighton no less.

So, it is important that Klopp & co. return to winning ways and three points against City will be a statement of intent from the Reds.
