Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp drops hint about future at Anfield

In what will come as a bit of good news, Jurgen Klopp has given a hint that his future lies at Liverpool (via Sky Sports h/t Mirror). There had been speculation about Klopp making an early exit from the club before his contract ends in 2024 but he has put all that to rest now.

It was being said that the pressures of such a competitive league plus Liverpool’s insurmountable problems this season could make the German consider leaving the job earlier than expected. There is also the bigger picture of managing the German national team.

Joachim Low is expected to be replaced after the 2022 World Cup and Klopp could be tempted to manage his nation. However, the Liverpool gaffer has not given any thought to that and feels like he has a responsibility to fulfil at the club beyond this season.

“The problem is that football is all about results and if these little things that are better than before do not lead to better results, then people do not want to hear about them. If we are winning 15 or 20 games in a row, people listen to me and say, ‘Oh my god, what kind of genius stuff is he saying.’ When we are not winning games, I can say exactly the same things and people will say, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, just make sure you win the game.’

“I know that, it is absolutely no problem. I am responsible for this, not only now but for the next few years as well. That is why we will not let this time pass without getting a little bit of a benefit out of it. We cannot prove that now because we are still in the situation. We will have to prove it a little bit later.”

However, Klopp has still kept the ship from sinking with a shot at top-four. But, he has warned his side that there could be dire consequences if Liverpool miss out on Champions League football for next season.
