Jurgen Klopp spoke out on the matter that injuries and results have played a big part in the low confidence levels shown by his players. He termed the performance not good enough. Liverpool started well but in the moments they needed to capitalize, they didn’t. 

“Believe me these boys want to, that it doesn’t work at the moment, that we don’t score goals and concede one is enough at the moment. We don’t have the mentality we are used to but the boys want to win games and I saw that today. We still made mistakes and that’s the problem.”

However, Klopp added that he is more focused on winning just one game right now. Top-four was not much of a concern but it’s about getting just that one win. The loss further damaged Liverpool’s hopes of a top-four finish.

However, the problem is that Liverpool could slip further down the table than the eighth position they are in. Aston Villa are three points below us with two games in hand. There will be a bit of respite though, as we are set to face RB Leipzig in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16. We already have a lead of two goals and will look to finish the job.
