Liverpool are one of several Premier League clubs interested in Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey
Calciomercato (h/t Daily Mail) claims that Liverpool are interested in Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
The Welsh midfielder, who played for Arsenal before joining Juventus, joined the Serie A giants on a free deal in 2019.
Ramsey made 35 appearances in his first season with the Turin giants and scored four goals too as they won the Serie A title.
The Welshman makes £400,000-a-week but his place in the Juventus team isn’t guaranteed. If you are one of those punters, take a bet on Ramsey returning to the Premier League with the help of some of the best betting offers available.
Juve had several midfielders on their books with Weston McKennie, Rodrigo Bentancur and Arthur being preferred by Andrea Pirlo.
Pirlo, the newly appointed Juve manager at the start of the season, also had to defend Ramsey’s absence from the team. The Welshman has struggled with injuries this season and has only made 26 appearances in all competitions.
Liverpool also face competition from Arsenal and West Ham for the signature of Ramsey.
A perfect replacement for a departing Liverpool star?
Georginio Wijnaldum could also be on his way out of Liverpool. Reports suggest that the Dutch midfielder, who joined the Reds from Newcastle, has already signed a pre-contract with Barcelona.
He is out of a contract come the end of the season and Ronald Koeman, another Dutchman, is currently the manager of the Catalan giants.
Wijnaldum has been one of our most consistent performers. However, we would need a replacement for the Dutchman and Ramsey has a ton of Premier League experience too.
There are two major problems with this signing, however. Ramsey’s wages are astronomical and it would be incredible if FSG and Liverpool agree to a similar package for the Welshman.
The Reds would also have to stump up a transfer fee, which added to the wages could lead to an unlikely amount being spent.
Additionally, Ramsey’s injury issues would be a huge concern for the Reds. We already have a few midfielders who are struggling with injury.
Naby Keita has barely been fit for a long stretch of games since signing from RB Leipzig. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, also signed from Arsenal, has also struggled with fitness but he did suffer a serious knee injury a couple of years back.
Liverpool need a midfielder who can play regularly and stay fit. Ramsey is 30 and we already signed Thiago, who is 29, at the start of this season.
