Liverpool could get unexpected boost as Brazil mull Copa America decision

Liverpool could see three players return after Brazil mull Copa America decision

According to a report by Daily Mail (h/t Liverpool Echo), Brazil players who play in foreign countries, including Liverpool players, ‘will refuse to take part’ in the Copa America tournament.

The competition is scheduled to start next weekend as Brazil were announced hosts after Argentina and Colombia backed out due to rising Covid-19 cases in their country. But that is a problem in Brazil as well.

The country’s populace has demonstrated protests in order to stop the country from hosting the tournament that commences from 13th June. Amidst this, there is a possibility of Brazilian players refusing to take part in Copa America.

Roberto Firmino is an important player for Liverpool and Brazil.

Brazilian journalist, Marcos Bertoncello (h/t Liverpool Echo), posted on his social media account that the players had delayed training in the Brazil camp because of their unwillingness to take part in the tournament.

Triple boost?

“Brazilian national team players, those who work in Europe, delayed today’s training in Beira-Rio, asking for a meeting with the technical committee. Reason? they don’t want to play the Copa America.”

This affects Liverpool because Jurgen Klopp has three of his players in La Selecao‘s squad. And this means that Roberto Firmino

, Fabinho, and Alisson Becker could all rejoin for pre-season training sooner than expected.
Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson, was called up to the Brazil squad for the Copa America tournament.

The Reds plan to start next season’s training on July 12, with players in international competitions given a few weeks off before they can rejoin. Moreover, there is also the safety of knowing that the three important first-team players would be safe from injuries.

Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up an injury in England’s friendly outing against Austria and will now miss the UEFA Euros 2020. It also served as an unwelcome reminder of the injury issues that Liverpool faced last season.

But if Brazil pull out of the tournament, then there would be three important players who can rest up and rejoin our side earlier than expected.
