New RB Leipzig signing Josko Gvardiol makes Liverpool transfer admission

Speaking to 24 Sata (h/t Daily Star), new RB Leipzig signing, Josko Gvardiol, put Liverpool on alert by admitting that he wants to play for the Reds sometime in the future.

Gvardiol was signed from Dinamo Zagreb this summer as RB Leipzig look to rebuild under new coach, Jesse Marsch. This year has seen them lose a number of important personnel to Europe’s top clubs.

Centre-backs Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate have both left for Bayern Munich and Liverpool, respectively. And coach Julian Nagelsmann has also signed a deal with the Bavarians starting this summer.

Liverpool have reportedly completed the signing of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig after triggering his release clause.

And Gvardiol, 19, is expected to have a clear path to first-team football for this year’s Bundesliga runners-up. However, he has admitted that he grew up watching Liverpool and hinted at his desire to play for the Reds in the future.

Gvardiol is a Liverpool fanboy

“Since I was a little boy, my dad and I watched Liverpool matches, and I grew up with only them. When I took football more seriously, I started following them, and I definitely want the Premier League and Liverpool.”

Liverpool look all set in the defensive area for next season. Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip would all aim to recover in time for the start of the next campaign while Konate and Nat Phillips will also fight for starts.

And there is nothing to suggest as of now that Liverpool would want the newly-signed Croatian defender. Any interest seems impossible because he has just signed for the club this season.

However, if the Reds ever end up being interested in a move for Gvardiol, they could be helped by the fact that the defender has a soft spot for them.
