Transfer News: Liverpool ‘plotting’ Kingsley Coman swoop

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes via The Hard Tackle (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are ‘plotting’ a move for Bayern Munich star, Kingsley Coman, as the player seeks an improved contract at the German club.

As per the report, the 25-year-old could follow in the footsteps of David Alaba and leave Bayern due to contract issues. The player’s agent wants a better contract for Coman, but if it does not come, the Frenchman could leave the Allianz Arena.

And this situation could put Liverpool on red alert. His current contract expires in 2023 but the Reds could fall short of Bayern’s €50million asking fee.

Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo) state that the Reds could also wait for another year in order to sign Coman for a decreased fee as they are only willing to pay £30million as of now.

Kingsley Coman to Anfield?

Coman has an incredible CV at an early age and has been amongst the silverware at Juventus, PSG, as well as Bayern. Klopp could also use some competition for his wingers at Anfield.

Diogo Jota was signed last summer but Coman would be added competition for Mohamed Salah as well as Sadio Mane. And then there is also the possibility of AFCON taking place at the start of 2022.

That would mean Liverpool’s African wingers going out on international duty. And if Liverpool are targeting trophies next season, which they should be doing, then depth in attack would matter.

More Liverpool News:

There is also the fact that Coman is younger than both Mane and Salah. He could be a long-term successor of either one of them at the club. But that, of course, depends on Liverpool formalizing their interest and getting any deal for Coman across the line.
