Transfer News: Liverpool expected to submit offer for Florian Nehaus
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are expected to come forth with a ‘concrete offer’ in the near future for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus.
However, any decision regarding his future would be made after the Euros. Neuhaus is with the German national team for the European championship.
“Update [on] Neuhaus: Liverpool are definitely a highly interesting option for the player. A concrete offer for him is expected. It’s also up to Klopp. However, a decision on his future will be made after the EUROs.”
It is safe to assume that the 24-year-old would be a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutch midfielder, according to The Mirror, will join PSG for the next season.
Liverpool pursue Neuhaus
Neuhaus, like Wijnaldum, plays in central midfield. Liverpool fans have been left to rue the 30-year-old’s departure as he shines for the Netherlands.
His availability was perhaps his biggest asset, especially this past season. Replacing a midfielder that featured so regularly is a must.
Whether Liverpool decide to stick with their current roster and look for a replacement from within the squad, or dip into the market to get a new midfielder is something that only time will tell.
There are a number of midfielders at the club but the issue has been their availability. Nevertheless, if Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho remain fit, then Klopp’s headache can be reduced.

But he would still need midfielders for rotation. This could also be an opportunity for Naby Keita to resurrect his Liverpool career and Curtis Jones to break into the starting XI. Nevertheless, signing Neuhaus would perhaps add a sense of reassurance among the club’s fanbase.
