According to the Express, Liverpool could be poised to sign former loanee Ozan Kabak at a reduced price after the Turkish ace has seen a significant drop in valuation.
Kabak signed for Liverpool during the January transfer window from FC Schalke earlier this year. The Turkish centre-back arrived on a temporary stint until the end of the season due to the club’s injury crisis, with the Reds also retaining
the option of making his transfer permanent for £18m.Kabak, after a dodgy start to life at Anfield, recovered well and played a good hand in the club being able to clinch a top-four finish owing to a strong run towards the business end of the season. The 21-year-old featured 13 times across all competitions for the Reds and impressed a fair bit.
However, Liverpool decided not to take up the option of making his transfer permanent for the £18m fee. Instead, the Reds went out and recruited Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig. But, it could all be a part of a masterplan, claims the Express, as they could now move to sign Kabak for a much lesser fee.
FC Schalke have been relegated from the Bundesliga, meaning they could be forced to get rid of some of their top stars, including Kabak. But with the 21-year-old not featuring at the UEFA Euro 2020 with the Turkish national team, it is being claimed that his value has dropped lower.
Kabak recently admitted that he enjoyed his time at Liverpool but was unsure what the future held for him. With his valuation dropping, it will certainly be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to move for him, given as Nat Phillips could be on his way out
