Transfer News: Loris Karius reveals his future plans at Liverpool
Speaking to German outlet BILD (h/t The Mirror), out-of-favour Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius revealed that he is keeping all his options open during the summer transfer window.
Karius has failed to cement his position at Liverpool after that night in Kiev. The German goalkeeper was at fault for two of Real Madrid’s goals as Liverpool lost the 2018 UEFA Champions League final.
He never recovered from the mistakes he made that night and has since spent the last three seasons out on loan. The Reds signed Alisson Becker shortly after that final, who is the now club’s undisputed first choice.
Karius, who has spent time out on loan at Besiktas in Turkey and Union Berlin in Germany, says he is keeping his options open as the summer transfer window enters its business end.
“You should never exclude anything. Last year I was gone – and I would have been in the Liverpool goal two weeks later due to injuries in the goalkeeping position: But I don’t always want to be dependent on such factors, you don’t want your colleagues to do that either. I keep all options open and will make the right decision for myself.”
End of the road for Karius?
Since Karius’ temporary spells away from Anfield, the Reds have found their second and third choices in goal. Adrian and Caoimhin Kelleher competed for starts this season during Alisson’s absence.
And that trend is expected to continue. As per The Athletic (Subscription Required), both the Spaniard and the Irishman have penned new deals at the club.
That is all we as fans need to know about Jurgen Klopp’s intentions of who he wants between the sticks when our dependable Brazilian is out of action.

Nevertheless, Karius still has a number of years in football ahead of him. For him, a permanent move away from Liverpool could be beneficial in terms of playing time but it remains to be seen if the Reds are approached by any potential suitors.
