Transfer News: Liverpool to battle Manchester United for Christoph Baumgartner
According to transfer news from Mirror, Liverpool are set to go up against Manchester United for the signing of Christoph Baumgartner. The Austrian impressed for his nation at the Euros and that has resulted in a few top teams trying to sign him.
The 21-year-old playmaker’s stocks have been on the rise over the past two seasons. Baumgartner has amassed 16 goals and 13 assists in 71 appearances for Hoffenheim in all competitions so far.
Those performances in Germany rewarded him with a call up to the Austrian side for the Euros. They might have been knocked out by Italy in the Round of 16 but Baumgartner and his side proved they were no pushovers. The attacking midfielder even got on the scoresheet against Ukraine.
As Liverpool keep an eye on the Hoffenheim midfielder, they will have to face competition from rivals Manchester United. Both sides have been impressed with his performances and are looking to make a bid for him.
