Liverpool defender Neco Williams will push for exit amid PL interest
According to The Athletic (h/t Birmingham Live), Liverpool defender Neco Williams is ready to push for a summer exit from Anfield as he attracts interest from several Premier League clubs.
Williams, 20, has been with Liverpool since 2009. Having risen through the academy ranks, the full-back made his first-team debut in 2019 in a Carabao Cup clash. Since then, the Wales international has gone on to feature 25 times for Jurgen Klopp’s team, registering three assists.
However, the 20-year-old finds himself behind Trent Alexander-Arnold in the pecking order of things at Liverpool, with Klopp hardly opting to rotate his full-backs. This has meant Williams has been starved of game-time on a regular basis at the club.
As a result, he is now keen on a move away from Liverpool in search of regular playing time. This has sparked a flurry of interest from a host of clubs, with Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton lining up to sign him. (h/t Birmingham Live)
With Wales’ UEFA Euro 2020 campaign coming to an end, Williams is expected to return to Liverpool in the near future. Once he returns, the youngster’s future will be discussed, with the report claiming that the 20-year-old is ready to force through an exit if need be.
So, having someone like Williams to call upon when needed would be helpful for Liverpool. At the same time, it is also necessary that the defender plays regularly for his development to continue. So, it remains to be seen what decision is arrived at. But, in case he decides to push for an exit, there is no shortage of suitors.

It will certainly be an interesting conversation to be had between Liverpool and Williams. The Reds lack a natural cover at right-back for Alexander-Arnold. While Joe Gomez can play in the position, his recent injury history doesn’t inspire confidence.
