According to a report by the Daily Mirror (h/t ESPN), Liverpool will be ‘leading contenders’ for the transfer of Kylian Mbappe as his PSG future continues to be uncertain.
The French superstar is in the final year of his deal at the Parisian side, with no renewal signed yet. And the Reds would be in the ‘front of the queue’ if the contract stand-off continues. (h/t ESPN)
A contract that expires next year means that Mbappe can discuss terms with a foreign club from January 2022. Should that happen, Jurgen Klopp’s club can expect competition
from Real Madrid for his services.PSG have always maintained that the 22-year-old will not leave the club as a free agent – which makes sense for them financially considering they dished out €180m for him back in 2017.
There is no doubt about Mbappe’s pedigree and quality at his young age. He is already the star name for his club, PSG, and his country, France, with whom he won the World Cup in 2018.
Last season, he netted an eye-watering 42
goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions for his side. Those numbers would look even better to Liverpool fans, who saw Roberto Firmino misfire in front of goal.Sadio Mane was also not at his best, as Mohamed Salah seemed to carry the attack all on his own at times. Mbappe’s potential addition to the team- if that ever happens- would be one of the biggest signings in world football.
He would not only future-proof the attacking department at Anfield, but would also be an instant starter in place of one of Liverpool’s acclaimed front three. This fantasy signing is starting to look like a possibility each passing day for us.
