In some good news for Liverpool fans, England international Trent Alexander-Arnold told the BBC (h/t official Liverpool FC website) that he is on track to potentially recover from his injury before pre-season with Liverpool.
Alexander-Arnold is one of the best right-backs in the business, and his selection for England at the 2020 UEFA Euros was deserved. However, things took an unfortunate turn for him as he encountered a thigh injury against Austria in a friendly.
This led to him withdrawing from the national team in a bid to make recovery. Ben White was selected in his place and the Three Lions are now in the semi-finals, with Jordan Henderson slowly getting more minutes in their XI.
But for any Liverpool fan worried about Trent’s progress on his road to recovery before next season, the defender has himself clarified that he is getting better with each passing day.
“Every day’s a new step, every day’s getting better, getting fitter and I think going into pre-season we’ll be good. Obviously [I’ve had] a few weeks of rest and then [I’ll be] hitting the season and trying to push on from there.”
Now donning a fresh new haircut, Trent would be on the lookout to further cement his legacy at Liverpool next season. At the age of 22, he is already shouldering much of the creative burden for the club from the right flank.
For Liverpool, his fitness and availability are of prime importance considering the lack of quality options in that area. If the Reds want to go back to winning silverware, they need their star players such as Alexander-Arnold.
The Reds are scheduled to re-assemble for pre-season training from July 12, 2021. With Alexander-Arnold not involved in international duty, he can report with the rest of the squad on day 1, granted he recovers in time.
