Transfer News: Liverpool join the race for Piotr Zielinski
According to transfer news from Mirror, Liverpool have reignited their interest in Piotr Zielinski. The 27-year-old Napoli playmaker is someone that Jurgen Klopp admires and thus Liverpool are set to go after him again. Nonetheless, they will face competition from Manchester City for his signing.
Zielinski started his career with Zaglebie Lubin in his homeland before moving to Italy with Udinese in 2012. The midfielder’s rise to prominence at Empoli paved the way for a switch to Napoli in 2016 and Zielinski has established himself as a key player for the Naples club over the past five years.
It’s rather surprising that Liverpool have not signed a playmaker after the departure of Philippe Coutinho. While Klopp has found success with his own setup, the side does look like it could do with one. Now, with Gini Wijnaldum leaving, it makes it all the more important that Liverpool get someone who can score and create those goals from midfield.
Liverpool’s interest in Zielinski is not new. Klopp is said to be an admirer of the Polish midfielder and hence, Liverpool are looking to revisit their interest in him. However, Man City are said to have made an initial enquiry about him and Liverpool have done the same right after.

The 27-year-old may not essentially be a youth prospect anymore but he can be a good addition to the Reds either way. Having held an interest in him for so long, it isn’t surprising that Liverpool have made enquiries. Now that City are also after him, Liverpool would want to press forward with a deal.
