Transfer News: Leeds United overtake Liverpool in Adama Traore race

According to a report by 90min (h/t Liverpool Echo), Leeds United are leading the race to sign Wolves winger and Liverpool transfer target, Adama Traore.

The Whites are believed to be planning to make a bid for the Spaniard. Apart from the Reds, other Premier League clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City also share an interest in him. (h/t Liverpool Echo)

Traore is a dangerous player to have in any team and he has also caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp in the past. Speaking (h/t The Mirror) after his team’s 2-1 win over Wolves in January 2020, the German singled out Traore for praise:

Adama Traore of Wolves is on the transfer wishlist of Chelsea, Leeds United, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Man United.

“[Traore] is unplayable in moments, it’s unbelievable. What a player – it’s not only him but he’s so good.”

Race for Traore

The Reds can use a winger like him. He is an explosive option to bring off the bench late in games but more importantly, is a player that can seriously compete with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for starts.

The former Barcelona forward is also still only 25 years old, which ensures that despite having a lot of top-flight experience, he still has time ahead of him to improve and become an even better player.

Liverpool are keen on Adama Traore.

The Reds have Salah and Mane as their undisputed wingers down the flanks, and hence, Traore could find game-time easier to come by at Elland Road.

That isn’t certain, but nevertheless, Leeds’ intention of landing Traore should worry the Reds if they actually plan on getting him in. Michael Edwards and co. should speed things up if they want Traore to wear the Red shirt this season.

More Liverpool News:

It remains to be seen if he stays at the Molineux for this campaign, but if he does move, Reds fans would want that his destination turns out to be Anfield rather than anyplace else.
