Transfer News: Welsh international Harry Wilson leaves Liverpool for Fulham

According to Sky Sports, Liverpool academy graduate Harry Wilson has completed a permanent switch to London-based Championship side Fulham.

The 24-year-old, who came through the Reds system, is already a full international for Wales. He has already won 29 caps for them and was a part of the squad that took part in this summer’s Euros.

While he has done well on the international stage, Wilson has struggled to break through at Anfield. He has made just two appearances for the Reds since debuting in 2017 and has shown precious little to suggest he can be a mainstay for the club in the years to come. (h/t Transfermarkt)

That is not to say that the winger is a bad player. In fact, he has done well on loan at multiple clubs in the lower leagues. Given the front three that Liverpool have at the moment, it is difficult to see him break through.

At 24, Wilson is in need of playing regularly and certainly has the skills to be an asset for the right team. A noted set-piece taker, the Welshman will now take his talents to the English capital.

Recently relegated Fulham will be keen to get back into the top-flight and signing Wilson will give their attack a boost. With his future finally settled, the player too can focus on getting his career back on track.

According to the report, the Reds will receive a fee of £12m for Wilson. This will help balance the books nicely and give Michael Edwards some leeway to make his moves to reinforce Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

The player for his part appears excited about the new challenge and is keen to see the Cottagers return to the Premier League. If his previous performances in the Championship are anything to go by, the Londoners have got themselves a sensational player.

More Liverpool News

The 24-year-old Wilson has been regarded as one of the most talented youngsters to have come through the Liverpool academy in recent years. But the fact that couldn’t cut it at Anfield is more of a testament to the attacking riches currently at the club’s disposal.

Wilson could yet become a star in the English game. Unfortunately, it will not be in Liverpool colours.
