Liverpool not keen on letting go of Napoli target Konstantinos Tsimikas
According to the Liverpool Echo, Napoli are keen on bringing Liverpool left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas to Italy this season as they look to add more depth.
The Italian outfit were also initially interested in Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri but luring the player away from Stamford Bridge would be a hard ask, courtesy of which they have shifted their attention to Tsimikas at Liverpool.
However, the Reds are not all that keen on letting go of the player despite the fact that he made only 7 appearances last season, with only two of them coming in the Premier League.
Liverpool’s injury crisis in the defence was a huge issue last season with Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, and Trent Alexander Arnold all getting injured at some point of the season. Andy Robertson must be given some rest this season as he had a long domestic campaign last season while he also played a hectic Euros.
Moreover, Jurgen Klopp and co. have been pleased by what they have seen from the 25-year-old in training, especially in the second half of the season. Thus, Liverpool are fully committed to the full-back and expect him to feature more prominently next season.
Tsimikas, on the other hand, who joined Liverpool only a year ago from Olympiacos, would be better off fighting for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s line-up rather than leaving the club this summer.
Liverpool have already shut down Napoli’s advances for a loan move this summer, and the Reds are not keen on letting go of the player unless it is a permanent exit, according to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato via SportWitness (h/t Liverpool Echo)
