Transfer News: Liverpool are considering signing Guido Rodriguez from Real Betis this summer
According to transfer news from La Razon via Sport Witness (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are eyeing a move for Argentine midfielder Guido Rodriguez this summer.
After the departure of Gini Wijnaldum to Paris Saint Germain this summer, Liverpool could bring in somebody to fill that vacant slot.
However, Liverpool do still have the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Curtis Jones in the midfield line. But given the injury problems of Thiago and Henderson last season, signing a midfielder could be very important to Jurgen Klopp’s plans this summer.
Rodriguez arrived at Real Betis from Club America in January 2020 for a fee of £2.7million, after he was named Mexican Player of the Year in 2019 as he helped his former team Club America lift the league title. The Argentine went on to make 35 La Liga appearances for Real Betis last season.
A defensive midfielder by trade, Rodriguez could function alongside Fabinho or be a direct deputy to the Brazilian at Liverpool. Moreover, he could also facilitate Jurgen Klopp to play in a 4-2-3-1 system where he could play alongside Fabinho in a two-man midfield line.
According to La Razon via Sport Witness (h/t Liverpool Echo), the midfielder has a release clause of €80million, but Real Betis are willing to let the player leave for a fee in the range of €30million as Betis could be forced to sell Guido Rodriguez this summer.

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool would be aiming to challenge for the Premier League title again this season and should they sign Guido Rodriguez this summer, the Reds will certainly be strengthening their midfield options.
