Liverpool exploring the possibility of signing Mikkel Damsgaard from Sampdoria
According to SportMediaSet (h/t Yorkshire Evening Post), Liverpool are one of the four Premier League clubs to have asked for information about Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgaard.
The Reds have been interested in the Dane since the start of the month, with the club also being informed earlier this month that they will have to make a bid of £34million to prise the player away this summer, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Liverpool have been busy in the market this summer trying to secure the signing of a forward with the likes of Ismaila Sarr, Federico Chiesa, and Marco Asensio linked to the club this summer.
Damsgaard, who made 35 Serie A appearances for Sampdoria last season, scored 2 goals and provided a further 4 assists in the same period. The Dane then went on to represent his country at the Euros as he helped his side reach the semi-final, where he scored a beautiful free-kick against England but unfortunately went on to lose in extra time.
Predominantly a left-winger, Damsgaard could provide cover for Sadio Mane at Liverpool, while he could also feature in the starting lineup once Sadio Mane and Mo Salah leave for nearly a month of international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
With uncertainty looming large over the futures of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri, Jurgen Klopp will be aiming to strengthen his frontline.

However, with three other Premier League clubs interested in signing the player this summer, Liverpool will have to battle hard to secure the player’s services.
Jurgen Klopp will be hoping to compete on all fronts this season, and a player like Mikkel Damsgaard will certainly be a positive addition in that direction.
