Transfer News: Liverpool eyeing Jonathan David
According to transfer news from TSN (h/t Mirror), Liverpool are keeping tabs on Canadian forward Jonathan David. The Reds are ready to go after him should Lille make him available for a transfer as he is very high on the list of players Liverpool are targeting.
David, 21, spent time at the academies of Ottawa Gloucester SC and Ottawa ISC before joining Belgian outfit Gent’s reserve side in January 2018. Last season he joined Lille and scored 13 times as the club stunned PSG to get their hands on the Ligue 1 title. Liverpool’s interest in David is not really new.
The club have been tracking his development for a while now. However, they are now serious about getting the Canadian and they have him high up on the list of potential transfer targets. Although, any sort of move would depend on Lille wanting to sell.
It is not that Liverpool are struggling to get goals. Far from it actually. Mo Salah has been scoring for fun as Liverpool managed to rescue their season last time. However, the fact is that he needs others to also chip in. Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane had one of their most underwhelming seasons last time out.

While Diogo Jota is there, Liverpool should still try to go after David. He is a promising forward who can also play in attacking midfield. Lille’s financial problems mean that he could be put up for sale and Liverpool should not miss the opportunity to get their hands on him.
