Liverpool dealt blow in Renato Sanches race as the midfielder is offered to Juventus

Sport Mediaset (h/t Mirror) has offered the latest on Renato Sanches, who is a transfer target for Liverpool. However, the report suggests that the player has been offered to Serie A giants Juventus. It also adds that the Italian club will pursue him if they fail to land Manuel Locatelli.

This could be a huge blow for Liverpool. The Daily Mail reported about Liverpool’s interest in Sanches. It mentioned that the club are ‘very interested’ in the Portuguese midfielder. However, it was also suggested that the club will face competition from Arsenal.

Would Renato Sanches fit at Liverpool?

Georginio Wijnaldum left Liverpool this summer. While Wijnaldum didn’t always contribute with goals and assist, he was still a vital piece in Klopp’s system.

Leaving Wijnaldum, there are many other flaws in Liverpool’s current midfield. Jordan Henderson is in the middle of contract complications. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita have had their bad luck with injuries.

Renato Sanches could solve all those problems. After a rough couple of seasons, the midfielder has been on a roll. Since joining Lille in 2019, the 23-year-old has shown his true potential. He helped the club clinch their first league title in almost 10 years. He can also contribute goals from midfield, a trait which Liverpool have missed since the departure of Philippe Coutinho.

Sanches also had a brilliant outing with Portugal during UEFA Euro 2020.

So far, Liverpool have only signed Ibrahima Konate. The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are moving fast in the market. The Reds need to step up their activity in the market or it could disrupt their plans for the season.

As far as a move for Sanches is concerned, while he would be a good fit at Liverpool, the club will now face competition from Juventus.
