Liverpool place a £12.75m price tag on Xherdan Shaqiri

Sky Sports have reported the latest between Liverpool and Xherdan Shaqiri. As per the report, the Reds have put a price tag on Swiss international. The club will demand £12.75m for the signature of Shaqiri.

The report suggests that Sevilla, Villarreal and Napoli have been linked. It adds that the player has two years left on his current deal. It concludes that the player looks certain to move on from Liverpool.

This comes as a complete U-turn after Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport (h/t Mirror) suggested that Liverpool might allow Shaqiri to leave for free. Italian side Lazio are mentioned as the club interested in the player.

However, the latest report suggests that the club have set a price for Shaqiri.

Shaqiri at Liverpool

Liverpool signed Shaqiri in 2018. The Champions League winner was joining with huge expectations due to his heroics with Stoke City.

However, the 29-year-old never really got a run of games at Anfield. He found it difficult to overtake the likes of Salah, Mane and Firmino in the pecking order. It became more difficult as the club signed Diogo Jota last season.

The player also has had his fair share of injuries at the club. The player himself admitted to being frustrated due to his recurrent injuries.

Overall, it would seem like a move could suit all parties. Shaqiri, 29, is at a point in his career where he should play first-team football. He showed that there is still a player in him during the Euros.
