Transfer News: Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn attracting interest from abroad

According to transfer news from The Athletic, Liverpool have received interest for Ben Woodburn from clubs in Croatia, Greece and Denmark. Few clubs in the EFL Championship have also inquired about the youngster.

The report suggests that the first-team coaching staff including Jurgen Klopp have been impressed by Woodburn. The Welsh international is one of the standout players during training sessions.

As a result, the club are not looking to let Woodburn go. However, a significant offer might change that, especially as the player has entered the final year of his contract. (h/t The Athletic)

On Ben Woodburn

As per Liverpoolfc.com, Woodburn joined the club academy as an Under-7 player. At the age of 15, he ended a campaign as a top-scorer for the U18s. He was named as the club’s Academy Player of the Year for his performances in the 2016/17 campaign.

In the same year, at the age of 17, he became the youngest ever goal-scorer for Liverpool. Woodburn applied the finishing touch to a sweeping attack in a League Cup tie against Leeds United. Early signs suggest that the player could go all the way to the top.

However, a move could be beneficial for the player. Liverpool have shown that academy players could play for the first team. But, the current squad is one of the best in the club’s history. The 21-year-old could use some first-team football to enhance his development.

Should Liverpool let Woodburn go?

As mentioned above Liverpool are leaning on not letting Woodburn go. However, a serious offer might tempt them. Sending him on loan could be the ideal solution. The player will get the ideal experience without getting off Liverpool’s books. However, they must extend his contract first before doing so.
