Liverpool players lauded by Jurgen Klopp for impressive performance
According to the Express & Star, Jurgen Klopp was delighted with the Liverpool players and the performance they put in during their 3-0 victory against Norwich City on Saturday.
The Reds kicked off their 2021/22 Premier League campaign with a 3-0 away win against the Canaries, thanks to goals from Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino & Mo Salah. Klopp lauded his players’ performances and talked about how his side could still do better. He said after the game (h/t Express & Star):
“Pretty much as good as it gets,”
“What you need and what you go for is the result. The result depends on the performance, and I thought we were absolutely good enough to win.
“It was a very professional performance. An away game, against a newly-promoted team, in a packed stadium for the first time, they celebrate everything so I am really happy with how we play. We can play better, that is clear but very happy.”
Klopp would also have been delighted by the fact that Virgil van Dijk was back into the lineup and managed to play the entire 90 minutes- his first fully competitive game since October of last year when he suffered a horrific cruciate ligament knee injury in the Merseyside derby against Everton.
Joel Matip also featured for the Reds while Joe Gomez was also named on the bench– both players who missed a huge chunk of Liverpool’s season last year due to injury. The club’s new signing in Ibrahima Konate was also in the matchday squad after featuring in 3 out of Liverpool’s 4 pre-season games.

The Reds, who had a late kickoff would have seen rivals Chelsea and Manchester United pick up points earlier in the day against the likes of Crystal Palace and Leeds United respectively, would have been motivated to secure a win as well as they look to challenge for the Premier League title again this season.
