Journalist Mike McGrath via The Telegraph, reports the latest on the future of Divock Origi at Liverpool.
The report suggests that Crystal Palace are the latest club to emerge in the race to sign Origi. The Liverpool striker is also being looked at by West Ham United and Wolves. The player could move to either of the above-mentioned clubs before the transfer window closes in about two weeks.
The Belgian international has had his moments with Liverpool. Origi played a memorable role in the club’s 2018/19 UEFA Champions League winning run. To round it off he scored the second goal in the final against Tottenham Hotspur. However, the player has struggled for both form and consistency.
The likes of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have had their dips in form over the past year or so. However, Jurgen Klopp hardly played Origi, indicating how far down he is in the order of preference. Along with Mane, Firmino and Mo Salah the club have added Takumi Minamino and Diogo Jota to their ranks.
Hence, a move away from the club could be an option. The player is still 26. A move to any of the reported clubs could help him resurrect his career.
Both, Mane and Salah are set to be unavailable during the month of January. The duo will be off for AFCON duty. Someone like Origi could prove to be ideal during that period. However, it could come down to whether the player would be satisfied with such a minimal role.
Origi was part of the Liverpool squad which travelled to Carrow Road to face Norwich this past weekend. However, the Belgian ended up being an unused sub in the game.
