Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaks out on the contract situation surrounding Mohamed Salah contract
According to Express, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has assured that talks are going on with Mohamed Salah over a new contract. With two years remaining on his current deal, there have been talks over a new deal. However, he left it a bit vague as to when the whole thing will come to fruition.
Four years since joining the Reds, Salah has hardly put a step wrong. Instead, he has kept firing goals at a jolly good rate regardless of his teammates’ form. Within such a short period he has managed to make a name for himself as one of the most deadly forwards on the continent and push himself into somewhat of a cult hero at Anfield.
His efforts managed to land Liverpool a Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in the following year. Salah has even started the current season on song with a goal against Norwich, meaning that he has now scored in consecutive opening games over the last five seasons. He became the only player to ever reach this feat. (h/t Mirror).
With Salah’s contract running out in the summer of 2023, Liverpool have remained optimistic over an extension. Jurgen Klopp also spoke about the same but kept it as rudimentary as possible.
“So we’re all adults, we’re all professionals, there are talks and talks and when there is a decision we will tell you.
“Until then it is only important how the parties work together in these things (contract talks). It is not about Mo it is more general, so if that is perfect which it is, then we don’t have to talk about anything else. And 35 people can talk in the background but with two years left (on his contract) you can imagine there are talks and that is it.”
