Real Madrid readying massive bid for Liverpool-linked Kylian Mbappe

According to Spanish publication AS via Daily Mail (h/t Liverpool ECHO), Liverpool are running the risk of missing out on PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe as Real Madrid plot a big move for the French ace.

Mbappe has grown into one of the most deadly forwards in the game over the past four-five years. Having initially burst onto the scene during AS Monaco’s 2016/17 Ligue 1 title-winning campaign, the 22-year-old moved to PSG in the same summer and has not looked back.

Apart from winning numerous domestic honours with the French capital club, Mbappe has also lifted the FIFA World Cup in 2018 in Russia with France, all at just the age of 22.

However, having entered the final year of his contract with PSG, Mbappe has constantly been linked with an exit this summer, with Liverpool and Real Madrid being the clubs that are mentioned as his next destination quite frequently. (h/t Liverpool ECHO)

Now, it seems like Liverpool could face the possibility of missing out on the 22-year-old superstar as Real Madrid plan to make him their ‘marquee signing of the summer’. To that end, Los Blancos are planning to make a mammoth bid in the range of £111m and £145m.

The Spanish capital outfit plan to launch the bid in the final 48 hours of the transfer window, while star striker Karim Benzema is said to have been repeatedly urging Mbappe to make the move from France to Spain. (h/t Liverpool ECHO)

This could potentially lead to Liverpool missing out on the chance to land the 22-year-old PSG forward. While the Reds have a well-oiled attacking unit, perhaps the time has come for Jurgen Klopp to consider signing an upgrade on Roberto Firmino.

Mbappe, obviously, would have been the dream signing for fans. But any move, even without Real Madrid’s intervention, would have been unlikely this summer given the finances involved.
