Transfer News: Liverpool ace Xherdan Shaqiri set for £9.5m Lyon move
According to transfer news from The Guardian, Liverpool playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri could finally be on his way out of the club as a move to Lyon edges closer.
The 29-year-old has struggled for regular game-time throughout his three-year stint at Liverpool, after arriving from Stoke City in 2018 in a £13.75m move.
To date, Shaqiri has managed just 63 appearances for the Reds across three seasons with injuries playing a spoilsport during his time at Anfield. Nonetheless, he has made quite a few valuable contributions to the Reds’ success under Jurgen Klopp.
But given his situation, an exit was always on the cards, with Shaqiri himself revealing last month that Liverpool had agreed to not stand in his way if he desired to leave.
Now, it seems like the 29-year-old, who starred for the Switzerland national team at the UEFA Euro 2020, is about to get his wishes. Liverpool have agreed a £9.5m fee with Lyon and have granted Shaqiri permission to complete his medical in France.
With personal terms already having been agreed between the player and the Ligue 1 club, the deal is now all but done, with only formalities remaining.

Shaqiri has done well for Liverpool every time he has been called upon. Unfortunately for him, injuries and the competition for places has meant that he never really became an undisputed starter at Anfield.
A move to Lyon would be a good place for the 29-year-old to rebuild his career.
