Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation of Mikkel Damsgaard
According to Italian outlet IL Secolo XIX (h/t The Express), Liverpool scouts have been spotted at a Sampdoria game to scout the highly talented Mikkel Damsgaard.
The 21-year-old had an incredible Euros as he featured in 5 out of Denmark’s 6 games, scoring 2 goals in the tournament, with the last coming in the semi-final against England thanks to a sumptuous free-kick.
Damsgaard joined Sampdoria from Danish side Nordsjalland last year for £6million.
Liverpool, who have recently sold Xherdan Shaqiri, could be wanting to bolster their depth in the frontline. The Reds already possess the likes of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, and Divock Origi, and a player like Damsgaard, who can play on either wing, would be a great asset for Jurgen Klopp.
However, securing the player’s services are going to be a tough challenge as Premier League rivals Tottenham are also interested in signing the 21-year-old this summer. The North London outfit are also said to have tabled a bid worth £17milllion earlier this month, however, nothing has come of it until now.
While the Reds are scouting Damsgaard, they are not necessarily planning on approaching the Dane as they want to see how the situation plays out with other clubs, but it is claimed that Liverpool do ‘like the player’.

Sampdoria coach Roberto D’Aversa has also accepted previously that he would ‘love to work with him’, but knows that he ‘could lose him’.
The Italian outfit are said to be willing to listen to offers in the range of £34million for the 21-year-old. However, it remains to be seen whether the Reds convert their interest into a formal offer for the player before the transfer window shuts close in a week.
