Aston Villa will not pursue a deal for Liverpool starlet Curtis Jones
According to a tweet by Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports, Aston Villa will not be pursuing a deal for Liverpool midfielder, Curtis Jones, during the summer transfer window.
Curtis Jones was one of the finds of Liverpool’s Premier League triumph in 2019-20. He emerged as a real prospect in midfield as he went from a sporadic cup player to making a place for himself in the senior side. While he was still learning his craft during that season, it was the last season when he truly made his presence known.
With Liverpool having to deal with a belt of injuries, Jones got far more chances than he or anyone would have expected. He appeared in a total of 34 games, scoring four and assisting five. However, with the return of almost a full squad, Jones has not gotten the nod in any of the three games this season.
Amidst all that, Aston Villa were said to be lining up a £15million bid for Jones (h/t The Guardian). But Dorsett has put the minds of Liverpool fans at ease by claiming that the Villains ‘won’t pursue’ a deal for the midfielder as Dean Smith is happy with the squad that he has at his disposal.

It is hard to see Liverpool fans being happy with the club permanently selling Jones this late in the window. He is an impressive prospect who can be a regular in the side over time and letting him leave would have been a mistake. Granted that he might not feature on a regular basis this season but there would be opportunities for him to play for the club in the near future.
