Transfer News: James Hill scouted by Premier League clubs including Liverpool

According to Daily Record, James Hill has been scouted by Premier League clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United this season. Rangers are also heavily linked with the player but could not put a good offer on the table to sign the highly-rated defender.

The 19-year old central defender played 28 times for EFL club Fleetwood last season. He has been on a good run of form and apparently Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester United sent out scouts to monitor the player’s progress this season.

The player is in the final year of the contract which has raised alarms for the clubs to make a move for him potentially in January. Aware of the situation surrounding the central defender, Fleetwood owner has said:

“There were two Premier League clubs who made bids for James and there was also a bid from Scottish Premiership,”

“I wouldn’t like to say who the clubs were, but unfortunately the bids weren’t of sufficient numbers for us to trade in”

Liverpool did sign a new central defender in Ibrahim Konate this summer from RB Leipzig. With Virgil van Dijk back to full fitness, he is expected to form a partnership with Joe Matip at the heart of Liverpool defence this season. James, who is still young, could turn out to be a good prospect for the future if Liverpool are to ever make a move for the teenager again.

The prospect of playing in the Premier League is always welcome by a player playing in the lower divisions. And considering that the defender will be out of contract at the end of this season, the price tag may not be an issue for the Merseyside club if they are to ever make a move for him.

Burnley, Everton, and Southampton were also in the running for the 19-year-old defender. The Reds, for now, have their focus on the Premier League as they face a stern test on the road against Leeds United.
