Jurgen Klopp claims he was surprised by the lack of transfer interest in Divock Origi
According to Sky Sports News, Jurgen Klopp is surprised due to the lack of interest in the transfer window for Belgian international Divock Origi.
The forward started the game for Liverpool against AC Milan in the Champions League alongside Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota. This marked his first start for the Reds since January.
Origi set up the important equalising goal for Mohamed Salah. The 26-year-old forward has struggled to cement his place in the first team at Anfield. He started only 6 games for Liverpool in all competitions last season.
Klopp was surprised that there wasn’t any concrete interest for Divock Origi in the latest transfer window. The former Borussia Dortmund manager told BT Sport (h/t Sky Sports):
“[Divock] played a beautiful game. People forget how good he is, it’s difficult to get into this team. In the summer transfer window, we all thought there would be a proper offer for him, but obviously, people don’t watch football enough. He’s a sensational striker and he did really well today.”
Klopp praised the Belgian forward as he played an important part in their victory over AC Milan. He also insisted that the club were waiting for a proper offer for him.
The Reds were behind at half-time and came back to snatch victory with a great strike by Jordan Henderson. Liverpool will be playing against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday. They still remain unbeaten in the Premier League after 4 matches.
The 26-year-old forward was taken off after an hour to be replaced by Sadio Mane. The Reds went on to win the game in style. The match had everything from an own goal to a saved penalty.
Origi has been touted to leave the club, as the Merseyside team is supposedly looking to add a new attacker to their roster. Before any such move can happen there have to be outgoings at the club.
