Transfer News: Liverpool interested in Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi
According to CalcioMercato (h/t Express), Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, is considering a move for Chelsea youngster, Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The 20-year-old has struggled for game time this season. The Blues already possess a collection of stars in their forward lineup with names like Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku, and Christian Pulisic.
The youngster was supposed to leave to Borussia Dortmund for a loan spell in this transfer window but the move was declined as Thomas Tuchel didn’t want to let him go.
Hudson-Odoi has played for Chelsea only 2 times this season. He played in the Super-Cup against Villareal and started at right wing-back in the fixture against Aston Villa. Despite Tuchel’s confidence in the youngster, there is still a lot of uncertainty around his place in the team.
It will be difficult for him to break into the first team with an extremely talented squad in place. This team has significantly improved ever since the German manager arrived at the club. They won the UCL and the Super Cup.
Liverpool and Chelsea are currently neck-and-neck in the Premier League table. It seems highly unlikely that Chelsea would want to give their talented youth player to a direct rival for the title.
That being said, former Chelsea players have come to Anfield and played an important part in the first-team setup. Mohamed Salah could be considered a prime example. Daniel Sturridge is another player in recent memory who went on to play for Chelsea as well as Liverpool.

Thomas Tuchel has made his views clear about the 20-year-old Hudson-Odoi after the game against Aston Villa earlier this season, where the Englishman played well.
“We cannot let a player who is in the 18/19 man squad leave. He is able to play as a right wing-back, a left wing-back, in the two 10 positions. He knows the group, we know him very well. There was no chance to say yes on the last day.”
The 20-year-old is considered an important player by Thomas Tuchel. He is being linked to Liverpool but not many teams would not want to have such a talented youngster in their squad.
