Jurgen Klopp has no intention of bringing back this former Liverpool hero to Anfield

Jurgen Klopp has ‘no intention’ of bringing Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho back to Liverpool

According to El Nacional (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is not in favour of bringing Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho back to Anfield.

The Samba star was an integral part of the team under Brendan Rodgers and the early part of Jurgen Klopp’s stint at Anfield. Coutinho was a player capable of the exquisite and helped decide many games single-handedly.

The 29-year-old midfielder scored 42 goals and clocked 35 assists for the Reds in 152 Premier League appearances for Liverpool. A key player, Liverpool were originally against selling their midfield maestro to Barcelona. They eventually agreed to a club-record fee of £142million.

Much was expected of the Brazilian upon his move to the Nou Camp. It is now three years since and he has only declined. Things haven’t worked out smoothly for the midfielder and he has been linked with a return to Anfield several times since.

Barcelona’s troubles go beyond being able to get the best out of the Brazilian. The Catalan giants are currently facing financial troubles and are looking to offload some of their big earners to balance the books.

Coutinho’s future at the Spanish club could be highly unstable due to their current circumstances. According to the report, Klopp has ‘no intention’ of bringing the player back to Anfield. The German views the whole saga as a betrayal and has not forgiven the player for it.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing and it is now clear that only one side have benefitted from Coutinho’s transfer. Liverpool have moved on to bigger and better things sans the Brazilian. There is just no place for him at Anfield anymore.
