Transfer News: Liverpool interested in Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio
According to transfer news from Fichajes (h/t Daily Mail), Liverpool are keenly interested in bringing Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio to Anfield.
Asensio hasn’t been a regular starter for the Spanish giants this season. Despite scoring a hat=trick against Mallorca this week, the 25-year-old forward hasn’t featured extensively under Carlo Ancelotti.
The Spanish player still has two years left on his contract which could mean that Liverpool may have to pay a hefty price to lure the forward to Anfield. The Reds would like to have further reinforcements in their attacking department.
Marco Asensio has scored 3 goals in 6 games for Real Madrid in all competitions this season. He has taken the pitch in a Los Blancos jersey for 141 minutes which equals a goal ever 47 minutes.
Asensio has linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool in the last transfer window no deal took place between the concerned parties.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has admitted about knowing the forwrad’s frustration with the current situation. The Madrid boss shared his thoughts about the same
“It’s normal that those who aren’t playing aren’t happy. If Marco Asensio or Isco or Luka Jovic aren’t happy with not playing then that’s normal, that’s good.”
The Real Madrid forward is a versatile player who can play as a winger and attacking midfielder. The former Mallorca ace can compete with the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for starts on the wings.
This could also help create a healthier competitive environment and provide some rest for the star wingers who are an integral part of this Liverpool setup. Mane has had a tough last season and the addition of another forward could drive him to up his game.
