Ex-Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan opens up on the time Jurgen Klopp almost got into a dressing room fight with James Milner

In conversation with the Betsafe Eesti Podcast (h/t Liverpool Echo), former Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan has shed light on a dressing room fight between Jurgen Klopp and James Milner.

Milner is one of the most experienced players in the dressing room and an integral part of the squad. He is also the vice-captain of the Liverpool team.

The midfielder and Klopp share a seemingly cordial relationship but the former Liverpool defender opened up on a glaring fight between the duo. Klavan also went on to admit that the 35-year-old was the first one to back away.

“Klopp and James Milner almost started a physical fight. It was the period when there was Boxing Day in England and they almost started fighting but eventually Milner stepped back.

“We saw from his eyes that Klopp would have gone all the way just to prove his point. It was the most stressful time for him as well. He was under a lot of pressure.”

This incident took place after a Premier League game against Sunderland in 2017. The Reds conceded a late penalty at the Stadium of Light and the match ended in a draw. The frustration reached a melting point after the game as the manager and the midfielder were caught in a heated discussion.

The German manager is known for his charisma and passion. The former Borussia Dortmund manager wears his heart on his sleeve and that is quite evident from his behaviour.
