“That’s football sometimes”: Liverpool star ‘disappointed’ after dropped points vs Brentford

Jordan Henderson makes his thoughts clear after Liverpool draw 3-3 with Brentford

In conversation with Sky Sports News (Liverpool Echo), Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson shared his views on the team’s performance against Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Reds dropped points away from home for the first time in the PL this season. The Merseyside team went ahead on two occasions but were pegged back by a spirited Brentford team to share points on the day.

The defensive frailties were highlighted in the game, as the Reds conceded three goals for the first time in this PL campaign. Before this match, the only goal that was scored against them in the league this season was a brilliant Kai Havertz header at Anfield in the draw vs Chelsea.

Jordan Henderson has been a great leader to this Liverpool team since his arrival.

The Liverpool captain’s thoughts and proceedings of the game:

Henderson spoke about his disappointment over not getting the three points after the game

“It was an intense game, we knew it would be. It’s a difficult place to come. It was a great atmosphere and they made it difficult for us. To go in the lead twice and not see it out is disappointing for us.”

Diogo Jota had levelled things up for Liverpool after Brentford surprisingly took the lead early in the game. Mohamed Salah scored a beautiful goal close to the hour mark in the game, but the Reds were pegged back again, before Curtis Jones made it three for the Reds.

Curtis Jones scored his first PL goal for Liverpool this season vs Brentford.

The Merseysiders had some great chances in the second half to put the game to bed but couldn’t convert those opportunities, allowing Yoane Wissa to make it 3-3 late on. The Liverpool captain also commented on his team chances in the match.

“At 2-1 up we had one or two chances to finish the game off. It gives them that little bit of hope. That’s football sometimes, we’re disappointed with the result but we have to give credit to Brentford.”

The 31-year-old midfielder believes that there was a lot of scope for improvement for his team after conceding a late equaliser. Liverpool still sit on top of the table by one point as Chelsea and Manchester United lost their matches.

This would have been a great chance for the Reds to open up a bigger lead at the top of the table. Nonetheless, the Merseyside team still have their unbeaten record in the PL this season intact. Brighton & Hove Albion could go on top of the table if they manage to win their next fixture against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
